High-voltage op amp aims to slash noise, PCB space

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) has announced a series of high-voltage, low-noise, zero-drift, precision operational amplifiers that promise to reduce slash system noise, cost, board space and development time by providing on-chip electro-magnetic interference (EMI) filtering and eliminating the need for calibration circuitry.

According to the company, the dual-channel ADA4522-2 op amp operates within a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 55V and exhibits noise performance that is at least 35 per cent better than its closest competitor. The device provides the ease-of-use of a precision op amp with the ultra-low offset and drift of a zero-drift op amp. The ADA4522-2 is geared for various applications including current sensing in electronic loads, power supplies and motor control and offset correction in composite amplifiers used in instrumentation and other applications.

The op amp boasts a noise level of 5.8nV/√Hz @ 1kHz typ, and offset value of 5uV max @ 25°C and offset voltage drift of 22nV/°C max. It also has a bandwidth of 2.7MHz GPB. The device features chopping frequency of 1.5MHz for wider closed loop bandwidth and easy filtering.

The ADA4522-2 is available for $1.46 each per 1,000 in SOIC-8, MSOP-8 package. The ADA4522-4 will be in full production in September and will cost $3.14 each per 1,000 in TSSOP-14, SOIC-14 package.
