No more centre stack display – like Tesla's 17in screen!

Depending on the situation and the driver's wishes, there are different layouts. Two Bosch solutions for fully display-based instrument clusters are already in series production in the BMW i8 and the Audi TT, with more to come.

Following are a few snapshots of Audi TT's instrumental clusters, which display necessary information in a flexible manner. A Bosch official at booth said that Audi TT, a sports car, is too small to have a huge centre stack, so this is an ideal solution.

A washing machine with a built-in sink

CES 2015

There are a lot of "smart appliances" that I don't consider useful. But at this year's CES, Samsung came out with an odd but ingenious variation: a washing machine embedded with a sink.

This makes a lot of sense for those of us who actually do the wash.

Directly beneath the transparent lid of Samsung's new washer is a place where you can initiate the first step—scrubbing out stubborn stains. No need to use a standing basin in the laundry room, if you have one. Once this first phase is complete, drop your primed garments into the top-loader and let 'er rip.

Is this really an IoT appliance? Not really. But it's a "smart" machine in my book.

Here comes 8K TV!

CES 2015

No Consumer Electronics Show is ever complete without a lot of vendors strutting the next-generation TV. Beyond the wave of 4K UHDTVs and something called "Beyond Ultra 4K TV" or "SUHDTV," Sharp went all-out and one-up with 8K TV.
