AC-DC power system tips 1300W at 92% efficiency

Vicor Corp. rolls the Westcor MicroPAC power factor corrected AC-DC power system. The system delivers up to 1,300W of continuous power, at up to 92 per cent efficiency. It offers 25W/m3 power density in a 101mm x 43.7mm x 189.2mm package.

The system provides semi-regulated output voltages of 12-, 24-, 36- and 48VDC via four factory-configurable isolated outputs, targeting distributed power architectures in industrial and automation, MIL-COTS, telecom and renewable energy applications.

The Energy Star-compliant MicroPACs can be combined with four high-performance VI Chip battery control module (BCM) high-voltage bus converters, which may be configured as single outputs, parallel outputs, or a series output with integrated current sharing. For applications that need higher power levels, MicroPACs can be configured in arrays with box-to-box current sharing. They offer eco-mode operation settings that allow individual BCMs to be powered on as needed, further enhancing power efficiency over a wide load range. During standby-mode, total power dissipation (TPD) is <8W, quite low for a power system rated up to 1,300W.

The MicroPACs operate at full load from -40�C to +55�C. They are ruggedized for harsh environments, and meet MIL-STD 810 standards for shock and vibration (up to 7Gs per axis for one hour each, and 40G functional shock), thus, making them suited for ground vehicle, aircraft and ship transport and usage.

The 1,300 W MicroPAC configurable power system is priced as low as Rs.22,950.82 ($420) for industrial quantities.
