Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Ltd debuts the AON6290, the flagship device of the company's 100V AlphaMOS (aMOS) medium voltage portfolio. The N-channel MOSFET is suited for secondary side synchronous rectification in DC/DC and AC/DC converters, primary side and secondary side switching in telecom and industrial DC/DC converters, and POL modules for telecom systems.

 AON6290

The AON6290 claims to offer on-resistance that is 68 per cent lower than the previous generation of products and 5 per cent lower than the leading 100V device found in the market today. Also, its Rds(on) * Qg, Rds(on) * CISS and Rds(on) * COSS are said to be 5 per cent, 3 per cent, and 50 per cent better than the current leading competitor, respectively.

This claimed performance benefit means that power supply designers do not need to compromise switching performance in order to reap the benefits of low on-resistance.

The device is available in a compact size DFN5x6 green package and is 100 per cent Rg and UIS tested.

Typical Rds(on) is at 3.8mΩ, said to be the lowest in industry. At VGS=10V, Rds(on) is < 4.6mΩ. Typical COSS = 415pF; Qg (10V) = 63nC typical; and it is said to offer lowest Rds(on) * CISS and Rds(on) * COSS figure-of-merit in the market.

The AON6290 is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12-14 weeks. The unit price for 10,000 pieces is Rs.64.70 ($1.184).
