Comparator boasts low-noise operation

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) unveils the AD8469, a comparator that boasts low noise operation, TTL- and CMOS-compatible output drivers, adjustable hysteresis control and a shutdown input while offering an input range from VEE -0.2V to VCC 0.2V.

Based on the company's own XFCB2 process, the AD8469 offers a 40ns propagation delay driving a 15pF load with 10mV overdrive on 500µA typical supply current. A flexible power supply scheme allows the device to operate from a single 2.5V positive supply with a -0.2V to 2.7V input signal range up to a 5.5V positive supply with a -0.2V to 5.7V input signal range.

The TTL-/CMOS-compatible output stage is designed to drive up to 15pF with full rated timing specifications and to degrade as additional capacitance is added, said ADI. The input stage of the comparator offers robust protection against large input overdrive, and the outputs do not phase reverse when the valid input signal range is exceeded, added the company.

According to the company, the device can be used in high speed instrumentation, clock and data signal restoration, logic level shifting or translation, high speed line receivers, threshold detection, peak and zero-crossing detectors, high speed trigger circuitry, PWM and current/voltage controlled oscillators.

The AD8469 is available in an 8-lead MSOP package and features a shutdown pin and hysteresis control. It is fully specified over an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
