Graphics card tips 150% improved performance

AMD debuts the AMD Radeon HD 7970 graphics card. Aimed at desktop PCs, the single-GPU graphics card is based on 28nm production technology and features the company's new Graphics Core Next Architecture that the company says makes new levels of gaming and compute capabilities possible.

AMD Radeon HD 7970 graphics card is designed with support for PCIe 3 and AMD CrossFire technology.

The company says that the AMD Radeon HD 7970 graphics card offers a 150 per cent improvement in performance per sq. mm compared to the previous generation device. The card is designed with support for PCIe 3 and AMD CrossFire technology.

The graphics card also offers the AMD App Acceleration, which enables HD video images and performance improvements for everyday applications. AMD Eyefinity technology lets gamers and desktop enthusiasts connect up to six displays to one graphics card for stereoscopic 3D experiences and 16k x 16k display resolutions. It also features GDDR5 memory for accelerated GPU performance. And the AMD PowerTune and AMD ZeroCore Power technologies maximise the device's power efficiency.

The AMD Radeon HD 7970 is available in January 2012 from retailers worldwide, with select models starting at Rs.24,054.13 ($549).
