Keywords:fault protection switch  current fold-back

Supertex debuts the FP0100, a fault protection switch which is tailored for applications in which downstream circuit protection is needed, such as high side switches, instrumentation, and data acquisition. It offers up to 100V input voltage protection, which automatically recovers after the fault conditions.

The FP0100 has a current fold-back that guards against over-current or short circuit conditions in system's output power supplies.

As the first in a family of fault protection devices, the FP0100 features a low on resistance of 4.0Ω typical. The peak current allowed to pass through the switch is set by an external resistor, programmable to 260mA. In its off state, the switch can withstand input voltages up to 100V. Alternatively, it can be combined with a MOSFET, such as Supertex DN3545, to withstand inputs up to 450V.

The RoHS compliant FP0100 is available in a SOT-89 package (FP0100N8-G). Pricing is Rs.43.57 ($0.95) each for the FP0100N8-G in 1K quantities, with lead-time of 4-6 weeks ARO for production quantities.
