FRC processors pack motion compensation technology

Integrated Device Technology Inc. debuts the IDT VHD1200 and VHD2400, motion-compensated frame rate conversion (FRC) processors that feature IDT's HQV MotionSMART technology, providing smooth motion and full-detail images while minimising side effects, a benefit that is particularly useful for 3D applications. The devices have an integrated HQV resolution-enhancement engine for use in 120Hz and 240Hz TVs and HD video projectors for more-detailed HD images.

Ji Park, VP and general manager of the video and display operation at IDT noted that "The VHD1200 and VHD2400 follow in the footsteps of our other innovative video processing solutions, providing our customers devices that deliver the best picture quality."

The IDT HQV MotionSMART technology includes per-pixel processing, providing the capability to make intelligent localized decisions in the detection and processing of complex video sequences. The IDT solutions also feature cadence detection, which removes judder from sources with cadence, and a wide detection range to eliminate "flickering" when images move horizontally, vertically or diagonally on the screen.

The IDT VHD1200 and VHD 2400 processors lock to a high range of motion to provide full detail with no judder on fast camera pans and smaller, fast-moving objects.

The FRC processors are available for sampling to qualified customers. Price for the VHD1200 is Rs.1,167.45 ($25) for 1,000 units and the VHD2400 is Rs.1,634.44 ($35) for 1,000 units. The devices are available in 479-pin BGA-type packages.
