Texas Instruments calls up on world's embedded control engineers to show off their skills and innovation in the DesignStellaris 2010 challenge which is based on the Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller. Winners will be announced at the Embedded Systems Conference Boston 2010 with more than Rs.4.62 lakh ($10,000) in cash prizes and awards to be disbursed

The DesignStellaris 2010 contest takes place through June 23, 2010. The contestants can win by leveraging the Keil Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK-ARM) software tools to create a unique hardware- or software-based application that showcases technologies enabled by the advanced connectivity, data efficiency, motion control features and other functionality of TI's Stellaris LM3S9B96 microcontroller (MCU) as well as the capabilities of the on-chip SafeRTOS real-time operating system from Wittenstein. The contest is co-sponsored by Circuit Cellar magazine.

Each entry will be judged equally on technical merit, originality, usefulness, cost-effectiveness and design optimisation by an independent panel of judges. Additional points will be awarded for the use of the StellarisWare IEC60730 library and for applications that improve safety or reliability with SafeRTOS.

The EKK-LM3S9B96 Evaluation Kit available only in this contest includes: an evaluation board with an 80 MHz LM3S9B96 MCU featuring Ethernet MAC+PHY, CAN, USB OTG, and SafeRTOS in ROM; a time-limited, fully-functional copy of the Keil RealView Microcontroller Development Kit; cables, documentation, and StellarisWare software.
