THS7365 video amplifier

Texas Instruments Inc. has released two video amplifiers that help manufacturers meet the demand for more energy-efficient home and portable entertainment systems. The THS7365 is the lowest power six-channel, fixed filter video amplifier supporting HDTV and SDTV. The device delivers 21 per cent lower power consumption at 5V and 50 per cent lower at 3.3V to help manufacturers achieve Energy Star compliance in STBs and Blu-ray DVD players.

Meanwhile, the THS7319 is touted to be the lowest profile, three-channel video amplifier supporting EDTV. It delivers 25 per cent lower quiescent current than alternative devices to prolong battery life in portable media devices.

The THS7365 features Integrated 6th order Butterworth fixed filter for HD and SD video, as well as a bypass mode that provides up to 250MHz bandwidth to support full HD 1080p60 or UWXGA video. The six-channel operation supports composite video, S-video and Y'P'BP'R component video simultaneously.

The device also has total supply current of 21.6mA at 5V and 20.7mA at 3.3V, offering low power consumption that is important for devices seeking Energy Star compliance. In addition, a power down disable mode reduces quiescent current to 0.1µA to save power when the system is idle. Also, a wide supply and low voltage operation of 2.6V to 5.5V from a single supply maximises design flexibility.

The THS7319, on the other hand, has integrated 3rd order Butterworth fixed filter for EDTV that provides space savings. The amplifier features low quiescent current of 1.1mA/channel and 0.15µA in power down mode extends battery life. The device is housed in 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 0.40mm tiny MicrostarCSP package, which reduces height by more than 30 per cent for a thinner profile. Lastly, the amplifier has wide supply and low voltage operation of 2.5V to 5.5V from a single supply that maximises design flexibility.

The THS7365 is available in a TSSOP-20 package that is Pb-free and RoHS-compliant, and priced at Rs.33.79 ($0.70) in 1,000-unit quantities. The THS7319 is available in a tiny MicrostarCSP package for Rs.41.03 ($0.85) in 1,000-unit quantities.
