5V NOR flash eyes automotive, embedded apps

Numonyx B.V. expands its line of NOR flash memory with the 5V Axcell M29F flash memory devices suited for both automotive and embedded customers. At densities of 16-, 8-, 4- and 2Mbit, these devices will bring fast memory execution as well as flexible and stable NOR flash memory supply for automotive, military, factory automation and avionics applications.

Automotive and embedded applications require high quality as well as high reliability and stability of supply—sometimes for up to five years or more. Yet, as most memory suppliers press towards newer and newer technology, production of these critical products is often discontinued, potentially leaving embedded and automotive segments that include thousands of products without critical memory supply, or a path to drop-in compatible replacement products. The 5V, 110nm Numonyx Axcell M29F is a robust design solution that uses a long-standing, stable process technology and meets the high quality standards of the market.

The Numonyx Axcell M29F will be available with automotive-grade solutions qualified with AEC-Q100 specification to operate at extreme temperatures of -40°C to 85°C and -40°C to 125°C for both automotive and industrial market segments. It will be offered in TSOP48 and SO44 packages, with leaded and lead free options, and as known-good-die solutions.

Initial samples for customer evaluation will be available in June, with full product qualification and production in September.
