Making FPGAs work for embedded developers

Posted: 17 Oct 2006     Print Version  Bookmark and Share

Keywords:FPGA  embedded design  software  programmable devices

While FPGA technology has the potential to speed embedded design, most embedded software developers still tend to work just as before—selecting a discrete hardware processor at the beginning of the design cycle, creating the physical platform, then writing the software to make use of this platform.

The design of programmable devices must be better integrated with current embedded design flows and made accessible to the mainstream of embedded engineers and software developers for the full potential of FPGAs to be realised.
