ISSI rolls low-power Mobile SDRAMs

Integrated Silicon Solution Inc. (ISSI) has introduced the first members of its PowerSaver Mobile SDRAM family with 128Mbit, 256Mbit and 512Mbit Mobile SDRAMs offered in x8, x16 and x32 configurations in cost-effective TSOPII packages as well as space-saving BGA packages.

ISSI's Mobile SDRAM products are intended for applications in which both high performance and low power consumption are important, including mobile communications and consumer products. Power-saving features include Temperature Compensated Self Refresh (TCSR), which minimises power consumption at lower temperatures; Partial Array Self Refresh (PASR), which eliminates unnecessary row Activations; Deep Power Down mode (DPD), which provides a low power state when data retention is not required; and Programmable Output Driver Strength (DS), which adjusts output drive strength to actual bus loading to minimise power consumption.

The Mobile SDRAMs will be offered in 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V options. The IS42SM version has VDD of 3.3V, the IS42RM has VDD of 2.5V and the soon-to-be-released IS42VM has VDD of 1.8V. Both commercial and industrial temperature ranges are offered.

The x16 configurations are available in both 54-pin TSOP II and 54-ball BGA packages, and the x32 configurations are available in both 86-pin TSOP II and 90-ball BGA packages.

For quantities of 10,000, the IS42SM16160D-7TL in a 54-pin TSOPII package with a 0°C to 70°C operating range, is priced at Rs.118.06 ($2.95).

Samples are available now for 256Mbit and 128Mbit products in TSOPII and 512Mbit in BGA-90 with volume shipments beginning in Q3 08. All other options will be available during the 2H 08.
