LED driver modules increase power-conversion efficiency

Rohm Electronics has introduced BP58xx, the 'industry's first' AC/DC-isolated LED driver modules utilising constant-current circuits optimised for driving LEDs.

The BP58xx series integrates all required LED-driving control circuits, switching elements, isolation transformers and constant-current circuits into a single SIP package. These features enable the BP58xx series to increase power-conversion efficiency in a broad range of illumination/lighting applications, including theatre, landscape, residential, commercial and emergency lighting.

Key features of the BP58xx series include constant-current output optimised for driving LEDs (current set via external resistor); minimal ambient temperature-based, constant current fluctuation (±1 per cent accuracy); high power-conversion efficiency of 85 per cent; isolated AC/DC circuit; and a compact SIP11 package with built-in switching transformer (32.9mm x 25.0mm x 15.1mm max.).

These RoHS-compliant modules offer pin-compatibility with a wide range of products to enable easy modification based on each specification as well as adjustable constant-current isolation of 150-1000mA to enhance design flexibility.

Samples are available now. Price is Rs.18.01 crore ($4.50) for 25,000-unit quantities.
