Keywords:RF components  sub-system business

Tyco Electronics Ltd transfers the rights of its RF components and sub-system business to Cobham Defence Electronic Systems, a subsidiary of Cobham plc, for Rs.1,713.76 crore ($425 million) in cash.

The deal is expected to close by the end of 2008 as the transaction is still subject to customary regulatory approvals.

The sale of its RF components and sub-system business is consistent with Tyco's strategy to divest certain businesses in an effort to streamline its portfolio and reallocate resources to its core operations.

The RF components and sub-system business, with approximately 2,000 employees primarily located at 11 locations throughout the United States and Europe, designs, manufactures and markets amplifiers, antennas, attenuators, diodes, signal generators, limiters, transistors, modulators and mixers, as well as microwave and millimetre wave ICs for the aerospace, defence and commercial markets.
