STB solutions push adoption of advanced TV services

The STBs, including the Nexperia STB225, STB220 and STB100 platforms, consists of customisable reference designs with built-in software applications and compliance with the latest industry standards, allowing device manufacturers to reduce product development time, while enabling fast and easy user interface customisation.
The STB225 HD IP STB platform enables OEMs to deliver multi-functional HD viewing experience for IPTV services at sub-Rs.3,080 ($70) BOM costs. The STB220 with DMA and DVR capabilities allows manufacturers to offer STBs at sub-Rs.5,280 ($120) and sub-Rs.4,400 ($100) BOM costs (including hard drive), respectively. The entry-level STB100 enables STBs to be developed for around Rs.880 ($20) BOM cost and is targeted at single-channel digital STB "Zapper Boxes" and iDTV systems for free-to-air or pay TV.
"With a greater choice of available content, it is important to ensure reliable access to multi-media features at price points that entice adoption of advanced TV services," said Guus Frericks, general manager, STB and home media devices, NXP. "NXP's new range of STB solutions breaks existing mass-market price points across the board and raises the bar for delivering the best possible TV viewing experience."
