The release of China's National Terrestrial Digital TV Standard (DMB-TH) on August 2006 ushered many local companies to expand into the international USB TV box market, including developers of video chips and USB TV solutions such as Leaguer MicroElectronics.

During the Shenzhen and Beijing exhibitions of the 12th International IC Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China), Leaguer MicroElectronics showcased its USB DTV solution supporting China standard and DVB-T and DVB-S USB DTV solution supporting European standards.

The DMB-TH USB TV solution is priced between Rs.2,823.68-Rs.3,397.24 ($64-$77), while the DVB-T USB TV solution is available for Rs.573.56-Rs.1,720.68 ($13-$39). Huang Xingping, an engineer at Leaguer MicroElectronics, said that the tuning and demodulation chips in the China model are not yet mature, explaining the higher price and bigger size.

The company said that "half a year is enough" for them to deliver DMB-TH solutions with the capacity equaling that of DVB-T products. For now, the company has to wait for more mature chips to become available so it can be integrated into their next product offerings.
