Portwell Inc. has announced its ROBO-8713BVG2, a cost-effective PICMG 1.0 single board computer (SBC). Based on the Intel 865 chipset and LGA 775 socket, the ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC supports latest Intel Core 2 Duo, dual-core processor, Pentium 4, Pentium D and Celeron D.

Available now, ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC offers entry-level opportunity to the remarkable LGA 775 processors and the ability to transition applications from the socket 478 processors while remaining within any existing budget constraints. In addition, Portwell has used its insight and innovation to extend the 800MHz front-side bus limitation of the Intel 865 chipset to support the 1,066MHz front-side bus Intel Core 2 Duo processor in order to provide lower power consumption and the ultimate dual-core performance on ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC.

With its additional CPU support and legacy features, ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC is the ideal cost-effective solution for applications in medical equipment, industrial automation, process control, semiconductor equipment and network security markets.

"There is no escaping the fact these days that our customers have to keep an eye on their competition and the other on their budget," says Don Chang, president of VMS BU, Portwell, "and that's the very reason they can rely on us to meet their needs."

"ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC is just one example of several levels of products we can supply to help our customers enhance their solutions portfolio, whether they are entry-level, value or performance," explains Don. "Our mission is the endless effort to implement technology through an extensive choice of computing platforms that help enhance our customer's innovation."

According to Thomas Lee, product manager of Portwell, the Intel 865G Express chipset has already gained a solid reputation among users as the most competitively priced of Intel latest chipsets in a variety of computing platforms. "We implemented the Intel 865 chipset for this very reason," Thomas confirms. "It is a market approved legacy Intel chipset and supports the necessary functions for industrial applications at an enviable cost/performance ratio."

The ROBO-8713BVG2 single board computer also features dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual SATA connectors plus dual IDE channels; one FDD channel; eight USB 2.0 ports; dual serial ports, a parallel port; GPIO and Watchdog timer.

"The ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC is part of our product development planning with the Intel LGA 775 processor," Thomas comments. "We are committed to providing an entry-level single board computer that incorporates the best possible cost/performance ratio. I believe we have succeeded with ROBO-8713BVG2 SBC."
