Board eases DSP algorithm development

Lyrtech Signal Processing has announced the SignalMaster Quad Virtex-4, an enhanced version of its SignalMaster Quad Virtex-II. Like its predecessor, the SignalMaster Quad Virtex-4 is designed to aid development and testing of DSP algorithms.

The SignalMaster Quad Virtex-4 includes two Xilinx Virtex-4 LX FPGAs as well as four Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320C6416 DSPs. Customers can order the board with either 720MHz or 1GHz versions of the DSPs. In addition to the processors, the board provides 128MB of SDRAM per DSP and 128MB of DDR SDRAM per FPGA.

The board also includes two LYRIO+ interfaces that allow connection to expansion modules including:

  • High-speed multichannel ADC/DAC modules, such as the ADACMaster III, VHS-ADC Virtex-4 and VHS-DAC Virtex-4.

  • The DRC Virtex-4, a RapidCHANNEL/FPDP expansion module with one TX and one RX RapidCHANNEL ports capable of 1GBps (8bits) and two configurable RX/TX FPDP-I, 400-MBps ports.

  • The Audio/Video I/O module (AVA) with a 16bit NTSC/PAL video encoder/decoder and a 16bit, 48kHz stereo audio I/O.

The board is backed by a software development kit that allows developers to program the SignalMaster Quad Virtex-4 board directly from MATLAB and Simulink.
