Agilent Technologies Inc. has announced the availability of its 3GPP LTE Wireless Library for use with the company's advanced design system (ADS) EDA software.

The library is expected to help wireless-systems designers and verification engineers speed development of the evolving 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) designs.

The 3GPP LTE wireless library is based on Release 8 of the 3GPP standard documents for the next generation of mobile communication products. It works within the ADS environment and with Agilent's Ptolemy simulator for design and verification.

In use, the library provides pre-configured simulation setups, with signal sources for downlinks and uplinks, along with transmitter analyses. The transmitter analyses include spectrum, complementary cumulative distribution function and waveform measurements.

"Future releases of this library will track the standard, and include analysis capabilities such as error vector magnitude and bit error rate measurements," said Afshin Amini, product marketing manager with Agilent's EEsof EDA division.

For its part, Agilent's ADS offers a set of front-to-back simulation and layout tools and instrument links for RF and microwave IC design in a single integrated design flow.

The Ptolemy portion is a system-level simulation and design environment within ADS. Ptolemy is based on a hybrid of data flow and timed synchronous technologies that facilitates analogue/RF and DSP co-design.

The 3GPP LTE wireless library is available for purchase with Agilent's ADS 2006A. The ADS is also currently available, with prices starting at approximately Rs.3.82 lakh ($8,400).
