Sun Microsystems Inc. and Unisys Corp. have filed suit against South Korean chip maker Hynix Semiconductor Inc. seeking damages from its participation in DRAM price fixing, according to online reports.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, also targets Mosel Vitelic, Nanya, Winbond, Elpida, Mitsubishi and Infineon, reports said. The two companies also named Micron Technology Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. as co-conspirators in the suit.

Hynix is one of four companies that have pled guilty to DRAM price fixing in the late 1990s and early part of this decade as the result of a probe by the U.S. Justice Department. Last year, Hynix agreed to pay a Rs.861.73 crore ($185 million) fine. Hynix said in a regulatory filing that Sun and Unisys filed suit in U.S. District Court here Sept. 1, according to an Associated Press report.
