Xenitis Infotech has disclosed its plan to set up a chip manufacturing unit at Hyderabad's proposed fab city. With an estimated between Rs.1,200 crore and Rs.1,500 crore, this project will be the company's first establishment outside West Bengal.

Xenitis has been allotted 100 acres of land for the chip unit by the State and has been proposed to hold some equity in the unit. The centre will hold 30 per cent equity in the proposed semiconductor unit. Many software companies such as Wipro and HCL are excited over the proposed semiconductor unit as the domestic availability would provide cost benefits to them.
